Fill Up on the Word

If you’ve ever fasted for a long time, not hours or a day or two; no food at all, only water for an extended period of time, you will know the pain that comes from the body begging you to feed it. The cramping, which doubles you over in pain, the nausea, the headaches, and the dizziness. None of this should be surprising because food sustains our bodies, food nourishes us, food keeps us alive. Food enables us to function. Food fuels us.

In the same way food keeps us alive physically, feeding ourselves the Word of God keeps us alive spiritually.

We need to be as diligent, as dedicated, and as determined to seek after God and His word as we are to eat up to three meals and two snacks a day!

We need to choose wisely what we put into this, our temple.

We need to consciously prepare what we are feeding ourselves spiritually to stay healthy.

We need to choose listening to God’s Word over listening to the world’s word.

We need to savor the richness of God’s word, chew it slowly, deliberately, enjoying every tasty morsel.

We need to share it with friends, family, our loved ones and everyone we meet.

I’m imaging sitting around our table with our family or church group sharing the Word of God. Savoring every word. Commenting on every delicious bite (verse).

We need to be intentional about what we put in our minds as well as in our bodies. In the same way we ‘crave’ food and will go to some length to obtain a particular ‘taste’ we want. We should go after God. Chase after God. Our need for Him is no less that our need for food. In fact we need Him more.

His love nourishes us. His love sustains us. His love instructs us.

Persistently pursue Him. Fill up on His word. Get fat on His Word!! The more you put in you, the more you have to give out. The more you’ll shine for Jesus.

Jesus answered, “The Scriptures say: Bread alone will not satisfy, but true life is found in every word, which constantly goes forth from God’s mouth.” Matthew‬ ‭4:4‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Father God, thank you for your Word that feeds our spirit. Help us seek you intentionally today and everyday, making you a priority over everything in our lives. Help us to hear and be obedient to your voice, your direction, your plan. May we crave you more than any physical thing in this world. Help us be devoted to living out Your will on earth. Amen
