Walking With The Holy Spirit

“But the fruit produced by the Holy Spirit within you is divine love in all its varied expressions: joy that overflows, peace that subdues, patience that endures, kindness in action, a life full of virtue, faith that prevails, gentleness of heart, and strength of spirit. Never set the law above these qualities, for they are meant to be limitless.
Galatians‬ ‭5:22-23‬ ‭TPT‬‬

We have a choice to be attentive to the Holy Spirit or to walk in our own way. When we accepted Jesus as our Lord and saviour, we  were given the gift of the Holy Spirit to help us live for God.

The question is, are we paying attention to the Holy Spirit’s leading? Are we allowing our day to day life to be influenced by the Holy Spirit? Are we really sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s voice, the still small whisper?

We need to understand the Holy Spirit impacts how we live, the way that we live and why we live. When our life is not led by the Holy Spirit, our flesh is leading us and governing all we do.

I don’t know about you but letting my flesh lead never works out well for me!! It stifles my ability to talk and act like Christ. Which means I’m not so pleasant to be around. I’m easily ticked off and frustrated. I can’t or won’t hold my tongue, no filter. Worst of all I see myself doing these things, like an out-of-body experience, but lack the desired level of control to do something about it.

It is evident when my life is influenced by the Holy Spirit, because my character, my life, my actions and my speech exhibit Christ. I don’t allow my feelings to dictate my responses (as much). I’m still a W.I. P, ‘work in progress’

Ask yourself honestly, am I bearing the fruit of the Spirit or of the flesh.

“And the supernatural fruits of his light will be seen in you—goodness, righteousness, and truth.”
Ephesians‬ ‭5:9‬ ‭TPT‬‬

“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,”
Galatians‬ ‭5:22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Having the Holy Spirit doesn’t mean that we are going to be perfect, but it does mean that day after day, with work, a commitment to change and perseverance, we will become more like Christ. God is not looking for perfection. He is looking for progression. And each day when we say yes to the Holy Spirit’s leading and help, we are making efforts to become like Christ so that we can be transformed to be more Christlike and be a testament to those around us who do not know Him.

Each day when we wake up, we need to invite the Holy Spirit to lead our day. Tell Him we need Him. Stay in the word of God, be in prayer, and find people who are like-minded, who are following after God like crazy, hungry for more of him. When we immerse ourself in a lifestyle of fixing our focus on Jesus we will begin to see transformation in our life, inwardly and outwardly.
My prayer for us is; less of me Lord more of you.

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”
Philippians‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬
