Holy

We were made to glorify God and to bear witness to the whole world about His character. He says of His people, “You shall be holy, for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16).

His CHARACTER, not politics, not sexual orientation, not cancel culture or whatever rhetoric or worldwide view everyone is spouting at the moment. His CHARACTER. HIS! We are called to love and be love just like Jesus. He didn’t care what was culturally correct. He cared about ‘Kingdom Correctness’ and to honor the commandments of his Heavenly Father in light of all that is Eternal. 

We are called to be nonconformists. In other words, Christian behavior is called to transcend the patterns and customs of society. We’re supposed to march to the beat of a different drummer. 

“but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,”
I Peter‬ ‭1:15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

What are some things you might doing that are pleasing to the world but against the nature and culture of God? Stop it! Be a non-conformist. Be who God called you to be.

“Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance;” ‭I Peter‬ ‭1:13-14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
Micah 6:8

Be gentle, be kind, be hopeful, be at peace, be different from the world. Let the world see Jesus in you. Remember why you became a Christian. 

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with gentleness and reverence;
I Peter‬ ‭3:15‬ ‭

Remember use your eternal lens to determine what motivates your actions here and now. 

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

“that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,” Ephesians‬ ‭4:22-23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

As Christians we need to stop jumping on the band wagon of worldly and political strife. We need to stop getting sucked into arguments of any kind. We don’t need to publicly share our personal opinions on every subject just because we think we are right!! How does that type of behavior show us as Disciples of Christ? It just isn’t necessary or at all Christlike. It doesn’t bring glory to God and quite honestly most people don’t want to hear what you have to say if it’s different to what they believe. So….unless it’s about their salvation ‘Zip It’

We need to love our brothers and sisters better, bring unity into every situation and remember God is still, and will always be on the throne. Do what pleases Him what brings Him glory and do/say what will bring people into His presence. 

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
John 13:34-35
