Do you ever feel unqualified? Have you ever disqualified yourself? Do you ever wonder if you have a purpose? Or have you ever felt that the purpose before you is way bigger than you and told yourself I can’t do this? Have you felt unsure of your next step or how to take your first step?

Rest assured we’ve all been there wondering what’s next, how can I do this, or why am I here. However, not having all the answers doesn’t mean we can deny God’s purpose for our life. Just because we don’t feel qualified for what he’s asking us to do doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do it. We also can’t deny it because we feel stuck where we are or unsure of our next step.

“After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace [who imparts His blessing and favor], who called you to His own eternal glory in Christ, will Himself complete, confirm, strengthen, and establish you [making you what you ought to be].” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:10‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Why do we need to suffer? When we try to do something on our own and fail, we sometimes become stuck. We stay stuck until we come to the realization we need to wait on the Lord. When we do that, wait, and watch him do what we couldn’t do ourselves, our hearts overflow with gratitude, thanksgiving and praise. It's a great reminder to get closer to God.

Lately I’ve needed to be reminded, I’m not stuck I’ve merely stalled out, this isn’t where my story ends, I still have work to do.

I asked God what do I do? What’s your plan for me? Why do I feel so stuck? God showed me a stalled car across some railroad tracks. When a car stalls out how do we handle it? At first, we keep trying to restart it. When that doesn’t work, we call for a tow to the nearest mechanic. Because it’s on the train tracks, we would probably need to enlist the help of people around us to push the car off the tracks, because we don’t know when the next train is, or how long the tow truck will take to get to us. Once with the mechanics they will run a diagnostic to find out what’s wrong, then with your permission, they will fix it and you’ll be back driving in no time!

God showed me as Christians the steps to get out of a stalled life is much the same. Keep praying. Keep reading the Word. Keep going to Church. Enlist the help of a trusted friend, family member or a Pastor. Be honest with what you are going through and how you are feeling, allow them to help by speaking truth and life into your situation. Give them permission to be honest with you and listen to their council. Lastly and most importantly trust and wait on the Lord he is your Creator your Mechanic the One who can get you fixed up and back on the road to your purpose.

“At the time I have decided, my words will come true. You can trust what I say about the future. It may take a long time but keep on waiting— it will happen!” Habakkuk‬ ‭2:3‬ ‭CEVUK‬‬

What do we do if God says It’s not yours yet, you don’t know enough yet, you haven’t been consistent enough yet, you haven’t learned enough yet? Do we give up? No, not at all. We dig in, find our resolve, keep standing on our firm foundation. How? By learning more. Praying more. Asking more. Seeking more. Waiting more.

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians‬ ‭6:9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,” ‭‭I Peter‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Keep coming to Him.

Keep trying.

Keep showing up.

Keep asking.

Keep learning.

Keep seeking.

Humble yourself.

As with Peter, known as Simon, James and John when they first met Jesus after a night of fishing without catching anything. We have to keep dropping our nets. Just because the fish weren’t there a minute ago doesn’t mean they aren’t there now. Our miraculous catch could be a net throw away. (Luke 5:1)

“For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities, you will never fall. For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter‬ ‭1:5-11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

My challenge is for us to focus on the qualities in this scripture to really study each one, dig into them. Find other passages of scripture like them to help us increase in all areas of our lives becoming more fruitful, more diligent, more capable in our effectiveness to our purpose.

Truly, truly, I say to you, the one believing in Me, the works that I do, also he will do. And he will do greater than these, because I am going to the Father. John 14:12 BLB

Father God I pray for everyone reading this to learn to patiently, humbly and faithfully wait on you. And believe your timing is impeccable. Amen.
