MY TEA WITH GOD

Queen Elizabeth II

Today I’ve been watching the funeral of Queen Eizabeth II. What an honorable turnout and show of a country unified for our Queens passing. Thousands upon thousands lined the streets to get one final glimpse of their matriarch.

Walking in the funeral procession were her children and grandchildren along with military bands, horses, military men and women from all branches and other commonwealth countries. There were thousands of feet marching together in sync. I can’t explain the sound those feet made. The whole experience was equal parts historical and moving, reducing me to tears a few times. The sound of the single bell tolling, intermittently, and the gun salutes and cannons firing were momentous

On the second leg of the funeral procession the Queen had a final drive from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle. Her hearst was covered in flowers thrown by mourners along her route. Seeing her pony Emma and two of her corgis there as the Hearst arrived at Windsor Castle made me well up all over again, as did the lone bagpipes at the end of the service at St. George church. The bagpiper turned and slowly walked away, his sad tune slowly fading as he retreated and was so poignant to the moment.

What a legacy the Queen of England has left behind. As the Country, and all its territories, along with the heads of so many other countries show their final respects, I believe it’s a perfect time to reflect on the type of person she was and how she touched so many lives.

In my humble opinion she was an all-around extraordinary woman who quietly yet diligently chipped away and changed some of the most outdated ways of what so many view as an obsolete way of life.

Here are a few of the many qualities I’ve heard people use to describe her.

Graceful

Passionate

Dedicated

Devoted

Engaging

Brave

Kind

Gentle

Affectionate

Decent

Dutiful

Active

Dazzling

Incredible

Courageous

Commitment

Warrior

Exemplary Service

A deep sense of loss is felt by so many even those of us who never met her personally yet felt a connection to her.

She shook hands, waved at, smiled at and spoke to many millions of people all around the globe. And oh, what a smile. She is the Royal who invented ‘the walkabout’. She knew how important it was to ingratiate herself to the people, to show she might be our Queen but she was also caring, approachable and relatable.

“Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.” John‬ ‭12:26‬ ‭NIV‬‬

At the ripe old age of 21, she swore to serve her country for as long as she lived. And boy did she. Her servitude was a profound commitment that never wavered for her entire life. She was also a Christian of conviction. That conviction teaches us how we should serve our God, our church, our families, our communities.

She never faltered, she never spoke badly of anyone and managed to keep a neutral face under all circumstances.

She sacrificed a life of obscurity to live a life of continual public scrutiny. She did so with dignity, grace and strength, with the deep security of knowing her God was with her every step of the way.

She prayed to God every day and allowed Him to guide her on her path. I love how open she was about her faith. It was an uncomplicated yet profound faith that bore so much fruit. We should all chase after the queen’s inspirational example of trust and faith in God and be open about our own Christianity by sharing our faith with those we love and everyone we meet.

She loved well and was filled with faith. She was a dedicated and true servant. She was well loved at home and across the world. She will be greatly missed

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. Galatians‬ ‭5:13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Thank you for everything Queen Elizabeth, long and very well did you reign!

It’s with a grateful heart I say, sleep peacefully now my queen your job here is done. I’m sure your Heavenly Father met you at the pearly gates greeting you with a deserved well done my good and faithful servant.

**As she enters her last great journey may life perpetual shine upon her and may she Rest In Peace, Amen

** Taken from King Charles speech.

I pray that the blessing and boldness of Almighty God may rest upon you. Amen

“As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children—”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭103:13-17‬ ‭NIV‬‬
