Identity Crisis
Have you ever felt lost in your identity? Do you question your position in life or look to others to tell you who you are or what you should be doing? Do you feel like you want something more. There must be more. You were made for more. Are you thinking there’s something not quite right about your life, that something is missing?
Are you feeling one of these negative emotions or believing any of these lies....
Lost. Hopeless. Short on time. Guilt. Shame. Pride. Fearful. Lacking intelligence. Unworthy. Not good enough. Sad. Depressed. Overwhelmed. Underachiever. Overthinker. Lonely. Worthless. Stupid. Unproductive. Uncertain.
All of these negative thoughts and emotions contribute to the reasons we are living a life of insecurity. When we’re not secure or confident in who we were designed to be, who God says we are, we eventually end up in a life of self-destruction. Do you continually try and figure out how to get on top of the negative thoughts through your own strength? Have you found this path rarely works out for you or is a temporary fix?
There is good news. When we put all of our hope, all of our trust in Jesus. He is the one, the only one who will help us turn our negativity around.
When we trust Jesus, the Joy and Peace of Christ overpowers the circumstances we face and then we are better able to stand firm and less likely to waiver. Security in Christ and knowing he is our firm foundation changes the outcome of every situation. Because we can see hope where there was despair. We feel joy where there was sadness. We see life where there was death. We feel peace where there was overwhelm. We need to continually choose faith in Jesus over fear. We need to renew our minds to think in the way of Christ Jesus.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2 NIV
Jesus guarantees us a good life. we have been saved by grace through faith, and this is not of ourselves but the gift of God; Ephesians 2:8
God’s saving grace is something we need daily! We may not always understand why he has grace for us, but we can appreciate and be grateful for it!
To help us understand grace we should look at the truth of who HE says we are…

God doesn’t see you how the world sees you or how you see yourself. What he sees is his perfect creation, better even than the person you aspire to be. He sees the future you, your eternal perfect self, washed white as snow by the blood of Jesus.
God, you breathed every breath of life into my lungs, help me live every day to the fullest, I want to be who you called me to be, grateful for how you made me. Even more grateful that you see me as your perfect creation. In Jesus name. Amen.
