Get Closer
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17 NIVUK
Don’t settle for distance from your Heavenly Father when Jesus paid such a high price to bring you close.
The more I read my Bible the more I realize how great Gods love is for us. He doesn’t just tolerate us, putting up with our daily shenanigans. No, he truly loves us and wants a relationship with us. He forgives us every time we ask him to. He rescues us. He provides for us. He defends us. He loves us unconditionally with an Agape love. A love that is unconquerable, undeniable, unswayable and undefeatable.
How do we have a relationship with our Father? First we must recognize our sin, ask for forgiveness and invite Him to be the center of our lives. Then we can look at the promises he has made (read your Bible) and count the many, many blessings we have in our lives and give thanks to God for them. Thanking Him for the breath in our lungs. A roof over our heads. Birds singing to start our day. Family. Friends. Pets. Music. Sunshine. Thunderstorms. Sunrises. Sunsets. Rainbows. Trees. Flowers. Mountains. Oceans with different shades of blues and greens. The smell of fresh cut grass. Peace in any circumstance. Laughter, and so much more.
But if you seek the Lord your God from there, you will find him, if, indeed, you seek him with all your heart and soul. Deuteronomy 4:29
I am ever so grateful for a God who patiently, wholeheartedly and continually loves. I have found the more I express my gratitude to God for this love, the softer my heart becomes. The softer my heart becomes the more I offer my worship. The more I offer my worship the closer I feel to my Saviour. The closer I feel to my Saviour the more I want to be like Him. The more I want to be like Him the more I study, pray, and worship. The more I study, pray, and worship the more grateful I become. It’s a virtuous circle.
“if you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9 NIVUK
It’s important to know and to believe we serve a God who wishes to save us ALL, no exclusions, no exclusive clubs, at no cost to you. He is all inclusive. All that’s required of us is to say out loud Jesus is Lord and fully believe He was raised from the dead. The ORAL confession seals the belief in our hearts. It’s like a verbal contract between us and God, sealing our faith in believing Jesus came to rescue us from our sin, so we may have Eternal life with Him.
“Now, would anyone dare to die for the sake of a wicked person? We can all understand if someone was willing to die for a truly noble person. But Christ proved God’s passionate love for us by dying in our place while we were still lost and ungodly! And there is still much more to say of his unfailing love for us! For through the blood of Jesus we have heard the powerful declaration, “You are now righteous in my sight.” And because of the sacrifice of Jesus, you will never experience the wrath of God. Romans 5:7-9 TPT
Hold tightly to the truth about Jesus Christ dying for you. HIs sacrifice and His blood made you righteous, made you right with God. Do not allow yourself to be swayed by anyone, stand firmly on His word. He alone is Lord and Saviour, there is no other way to Eternal life but through HIM.
