Peace

The peace of God guards our soul and protects us so that our circumstances and issues do not rule us. There is a peace possible for us to possess that goes beyond our understanding and beyond what we can control.

When we are fixed on our Heavenly Father, His word, His promises and what He says about us, we are able to shut down the raging chatter of our minds. All the ‘what if’s’, ‘if only’s’ and the ‘coulda shoulda woulda’s’ that can rule and ruin our perspective. When we hand over the reins and trust Jesus to rule our lives, our hearts, our thoughts and our emotions we find peace that surpasses understanding.

This peace is found by blindly, faithfully, trusting and having absolute confidence in God. Believing without a shadow of a doubt He will do exactly what He has promised to. This trust rests in His faithfulness it’s not dependent on us, our knowledge, our skills or our abilities. It’s all about GOD. Its a gift for us from Him.

It’s not a logical peace you can’t figure it out, not to worry neither can all the psych majors and super smart people of the world. It’s God peace….it surpasses all understanding. It defies all logic. It’s a peace you can have when you are surrounded by a raging storm in the middle of the sea. Or when you live here in Oklahoma and have tornadoes blowing up all around you! You just know God‘s got this. It’s a peace that guides us through the worst of troubles. Trouble like death, divorce, sickness, failures and disappointments. This peace helps us remain calm, clear headed, and centered. All because its Gods perfect peace.

There’s no magic formula to this peace we have to trust and believe in the finished works of Jesus. Albert Einstein once said, "Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding." What does the Word of God tell us about peace?

It’s a mindset. One that we have to pull ourselves back to time and again. We can’t let our thoughts wander off to the negative. We have to remain focused on a positive outcome and the promises of God, no matter our circumstances.

For even if I should lose my life I know my life is saved by the One who created me.

His presence and his peace are  palpable, attainable, and it’s for us all. Isaiah said Jesus would be the Prince of Peace, fully reigning amongst those who believe in Him and granting peace to those who ask. Isaiah 9:6

Here are a few more Scriptures to assure you of God’s peace and show you how available it is to those who put their trust in Him.

Galatians 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."

Romans 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

Psalm 29:11 "The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace."
