Ask, Seek, Knock, Repeat……
Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 HCSB
This is one of my favourite verses of the Bible. It encourages me to keep trying, to keep pursuing my dreams and my purpose. To never quit or give up. To keep on keeping on regardless of what I may see in the natural. It further encourages me to keep ever vigilant for those open doors, and to be unafraid to walk through them. Even more importantly it’s a great reminder of how much God loves me and wants what’s best for me. Asking shows how much I depend on Him.
Think about it this way if someone you love immensely, and trust whole heartedly said the words, from Matthew 7:7 to you, how would you feel? How would you respond?
What comes to mind when you imagine your parents, your spouse or a trusted friend telling you…. “Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you”. Would you believe they had your best interest at heart? Could you believe they want you to live a blessed life? Would you see they want to help you attain the desires of your heart?
If you can visualize what you would ask your family or friends for and believe they will give it to you, why can’t you believe God wants to do MORE FOR YOU? He wants to bless you exceedingly, abundantly above all you can ask or imagine Ephesians 3:20 NIV
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work 2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV,
When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am [a]Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. And I will make My covenant between Me and you and will multiply you exceedingly." Genesis 17:1-2 NKJV.
Never ever underestimate how ready God is to bless your life by giving you what you truly desire.
Be persistent, be tenacious, be immovable in what you are believing God for. Keep asking, keep searching, keep knocking. Be like the widow in Luke.
“And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you; he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”” Luke 18:1-8 ESV
If an earthly king with a hardened heart will give in to the persistence of a widowed woman, what does that tell us about what God wants to do for us? If persistence pays off with a corrupt human of limited power, how much more will it pay off with a just God of infinite power? Our God, our King, our Abba Daddy, has a heart so big and so full of love for us he never wants to see us sad, or failing, or in desperate need of healing or anything else that may cause us distress. Never give up on Him and His promises. God will answer your prayers. Never lose heart.
Keep on seeking, God promised: “the one who seeks finds”. It won’t always be an easy journey to greater things, sometimes it may seem like God is playing hide and seek with you, he’s not, I promise. If you keep going, if you keep seeking (HIS face, His will for your life), you will find HIM and His promises.
Keep on knocking, with persistence you will find the right doors. The answer to your prayer will be in line with what is best for your life and what brings glory to God.
I would also add be attentive to God knocking on the door of your heart too!
““Look at me. I stand at the door. I knock. If you hear me call and open the door, I’ll come right in and sit down to supper with you. Conquerors will sit alongside me at the head table, just as I, having conquered, took the place of honor at the side of my Father. That’s my gift to the conquerors!” Revelation 3:20-21 MSG
