MY TEA WITH GOD

Time to Laugh

We need more love in the world. We need more kindness, more compassion, more joy, more laughter. I definitely want to contribute to that.

My dad uses humor as a sword to cut through tension, to point out the absurd, and to keep him and my mum playful and to keep them friends. He always used it to keep me and my 3 bothers entertained, distracted and friendlier when we were kiddos. He could make us all laugh with a silly face, pretend tears or some Jerry Lewis antic. His actions are very rarely ever hostile, he uses humor to diffuse, distract, redirect situations. He knows the importance of laughter and not taking oneself too seriously. I aspire to be less uptight and more like him. Dad has always been able to get us laughing, quickly forgetting about what we had just been arguing about. That’s a precious gift I truly wish I possess. I get too intense, too goal focused. I forget the importance of relationship and laughter all important for making memories. Those memories my dad made with my siblings and I have lasted a lifetime. That’s the legacy my dad is leaving with us kids, and with our children and their children too!

What a gift it is to lighten up and let go, have fun and fill up all the empty spaces with laughter.

-Laughter will improve your immune system: Negative thoughts manifest into chemical reactions that can affect your body by bringing more stress into your system and decreasing your immunity. In contrast, positive thoughts can actually release neuropeptides that help fight stress and potentially more-serious illnesses.

-Laughter can relieve pain: Laughter may ease pain by causing the body to produce its own natural painkillers.

-Laughter will increase personal satisfaction: Laughter can also make it easier to cope with difficult situations. It also helps you connect with other people.

-Laughter will improve your mood: Many people experience depression, sometimes due to chronic illnesses. Laughter can help lessen your depression and anxiety and may make you feel happier.

Laugh hard, laugh long, laugh often. Be free in your laughter don’t worry what you look like, sound like, even if you’re a snorter!! Just laugh, with family, friends and when alone. Be like my dad and bring the laughter.....there’s nothing better than someone who can put others at ease with laughter, who can make you forget what you’re angry about or better still, see the absurdity of it. There’s nothing better than a person who can make you laugh when you are sad, depressed, hurting or in any kind of pain. Be that person.
Remember to embrace and thank those people in your life who make you laugh😂
